FAQ
General#
What is CreativeMode?
CreativeMode allows you to create Minecraft mods without coding. You simply describe what you want and get custom items, mobs, and structures in minutes. It supports both Java and Bedrock Edition of Minecraft. Over 180,000 mods have been created by the community!
Is it free?
The free tier lets you browse and download community mods, use the CreativeMode Launcher, and join servers hosted by CreativeMode Pro users. CreativeMode Pro includes unlimited mod generation, unlimited edits and remixes, and your own multiplayer server.
What versions are supported?
For Java Edition, we support versions 1.21.5 and 1.20.1 (Fabric only). For Bedrock Edition, we support version 1.21.93+.
How does it work?
You describe your idea, then the CreativeMode generates it in around 2-5 minutes. You can then play it in your world, share it with friends, publish it to the community, and edit it to add new features and improvements.
Account & Subscription#
Do you have referrals?
Yes, you can find your referral code in settings. Send your code to friends to give them 50% off their first Pro subscription. In return, you get a 50% off coupon after they subscribe! Get your referral code here.
Creating Mods#
How long does generation take?
Generation typically takes 2-5 minutes. This depends on complexity, server load, and queue position.
What can I create?
You can create items (weapons, tools, armor, food), blocks with custom properties, mobs with unique behaviors, and structures. Edits allow you to continue to add new features and improvements to your mod. See Creating Mods for more details.
Can I edit after creation?
Yes, you can edit your mods to fix bugs, add new features, and improve your creation. See Mod Edits for more information.
Can I upload textures or models?
Yes, you can upload PNG files (16x16, 32x32, 64x64, 128x128, 256x256, 512x512, 1024x1024 dimensions for Java, 16x16 for Bedrock). For 3D models, there's currently no direct upload option, but reference images are an effective way to create specific models.
Why did my generation fail?
Generation can fail due to server timeout, vague or overly complex descriptions, inappropriate content being filtered, or technical errors. Try again with a simpler or more specific description. If the problem persists, please contact support.
Publishing & Sharing#
How do I publish?
First, create and test your mod. Then upload an image or video to your mod (edit it on the mod details page) and request publication. Confirm the requirements and wait for review (1-2 days). Once approved, your mod appears on Explore! See Publishing Mods for details.
Why was my mod rejected?
Mods can be rejected if they don't work as described, are too similar to an existing mod, violate the rules, lack proper testing, or have poor descriptions or images. See Mod Publishing Guidelines for more details.
Can others remix my mods?
Yes, once published, others can remix your mods to add their own twist to the creation! See Remix for more information.
How do I share privately?
You can copy the link to a mod page and share it with friends. They can then download and install it or use the CreativeMode Launcher to play it.
Technical Issues#
Why aren't my mods showing in Minecraft?
Check that you're using the correct version (1.21.5 or 1.20.1), that Fabric loader is installed, that the mod JAR is in the correct folder, and that Fabric API is installed. For Bedrock, make sure the .mcaddon is installed and that world settings allow experimental features.
Why does generation keep failing?
Try simplifying/changing your description or waiting and retrying. If the problem persists, please contact support.
What should I do about crashes or bugs?
The best way to fix crashes or bugs is to use the Edit feature to fix them. On the Launcher, we also have an Auto-Heal feature that will attempt to fix the crash or bug automatically. See Auto-Heal for more information. If the problem persists, please contact support.
Installation & Compatibility#
How do I install mods?
The easiest way is to use the CreativeMode Launcher with Quickplay and modpacks. For manual installation, see the guides for Java 1.21.5, Java 1.20.1, or Bedrock. You can also use other launchers like Modrinth, CurseForge, or Vanilla.
My computer warned me that mod files are dangerous. Are CreativeMode mods safe?
Yes, CreativeMode mods are safe. We have a strict moderation process for all mods to ensure they are safe to use. Antivirus software may warn you about JAR files because they are executable code, but CreativeMode makes sure that all JARs hosted on our servers are safe to use. For more info about our approach to safety, see Safety.
Are CreativeMode mods compatible with other mods?
Generally yes, CreativeMode mods are standard Fabric mods. They may conflict with mods that modify the same features. You should test them in a modpack to be sure.
Do you support Forge or Fabric?
We only support Fabric for Java Edition. You can use the Connector mod for Forge compatibility. For Bedrock Edition, no loader is needed because mods use the .mcaddon format.
Can I use mods on servers?
Yes, you can deploy them via CreativeMode multiplayer (Pro required) with automatic mod sync. Alternatively, you can install them manually on a Fabric server, but all players need the same mods. See the Multiplayer Guide for more information.
Multiplayer & Servers#
How do I play with friends?
Option 1 (recommended) is to use a CreativeMode-hosted server, which requires Pro. You can create a server in the launcher, deploy modpacks automatically, and invite players via whitelist. See the Multiplayer Guide for details. Option 2 is to set up a manual Fabric server.
Do I need Pro for multiplayer?
Pro is required for CreativeMode-hosted servers and automatic modpack deployment. Free users can join others' servers and play on manually-setup servers.
