Blocks

Create custom blocks at Create Items and Blocks. Describe what you want in your prompt, and CreativeMode will generate your placeable block for Minecraft. Build with custom materials, ores, and decorative blocks!

Floatater Block

Place the Floatater Block under any connected structure to lift and move the entire attached build; single-click the block to activate or deactivate. While active, use quick multi-clicks to set direction: 2 quick clicks = Forward (+X/east), 3 quick clicks = Backward (-X/west), 4 quick clicks = Down, and any other single click within the timing window = Up. This update teleports players and mobs standing on or inside the moving area by the same one-block offset each step when moving Up, Down, Forward, or Backward, greatly reducing entities slipping or being left behind, and it scans much larger connected structures (tested on Bedrock 1.21.93).

How to Create#

  1. Go to Create Items and Blocks
  2. Select your Minecraft edition (Java or Bedrock)
  3. Write a prompt describing your block
  4. Upload custom textures (optional)
  5. Generate (takes 2-5 minutes)
  6. Place your custom blocks!

Writing Good Prompts#

CreativeMode will automatically add the necessary features, but you can optionally add these details in your prompt:

  • Texture (all sides, or specific top/bottom/sides)
  • Hardness (reference vanilla blocks like "stone hardness" or "glass hardness")
  • Light level (0-15, where 15 is brightest)
  • Tool requirement (pickaxe, shovel, or breaks instantly)
  • Drop behavior (drops itself, drops items, drops nothing)

Example Prompts#

Simple decorative block: "Smooth marble with white and gray veins. Stone hardness, requires pickaxe, drops itself."

Glowing block: "Glowing crystal emitting light level 15, transparent like glass, swirling blue energy inside. Breaks instantly, drops itself."

Ore block: "Stone with embedded ruby gems. Stone hardness, requires iron pickaxe, drops 2-4 rubies."

Multi-textured block: "Grass block: grass texture on top, dirt on bottom, grass-dirt transition on sides. Dirt hardness, drops itself."

Functional block: "Copper lamp block with verdigris texture, emits light level 15 when powered by redstone. Stone hardness, requires pickaxe."

Naturally spawning blocks#

To get blocks to naturally spawn in the world, include a request for how they should spawn in your prompt.

Example: "Naturally spawn in the world as a rare ore. It should spawn in the world as a rare ore."

Hardness Reference#

Reference these vanilla blocks instead of describing break times:

  • Instant: Wool, flowers (no mining time)
  • Dirt hardness: Soft, quick with shovel
  • Stone hardness: Medium, needs pickaxe
  • Iron hardness: Slow, needs good pickaxe
  • Obsidian hardness: Very slow, needs diamond or netherite

Common Block Types#

Building blocks: Focus on texture and color. Stone, wood, or metal hardness. Usually drop themselves.

Glowing blocks: Specify light level 12-15. Can have glass or stone hardness depending on fragility.

Ores: Stone hardness, require pickaxe (usually iron or better), drop items instead of themselves.

Plants and decorative blocks: Break instantly, placeable on grass or dirt, drop themselves.

Functional blocks: Describe the mechanic (conducts redstone, toggles on right-click) along with appearance.

Tips for Success#

Reference vanilla blocks: "Like polished deepslate but purple" works better than describing from scratch.

Be specific about textures: Either describe one texture for all sides or explicitly describe top/bottom/sides separately.

Include drop quantities: Say "drops 2-4 rubies" not just "drops rubies" for precise behavior.

Test glowing blocks in darkness: Light level 15 is almost always right for lamps. Lower levels may be too dim at night.
